It began in 2008, when I decided to incorporate my passion for running and doing something that benefited others. I partnered with Team In Training and The Leukemia-Lymphoma Society and ran the Paris Marathon, in honor of my late, beloved Aunt “Chickie” Donovan, who lost her life to leukemia. At the end of it all, I realized I had raised $8,000 for the charity. This is when I decided I could utilize my platform as a runner and business owner to benefit those who are struggling with this disease, as well as those who are trying to find a cure.
I will be running the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C on October 30, 2011 and the ING New York City Marathon on November 7, 2011 with Fred’s Team to raise funds for cancer research. Help support the cause by visiting the link below and donating to my runs so we can take a step closer to a world without cancer and bring hope to countless men, women, and children.
With the support of family, friends and the sales of Nana’s Bread & Butter Pickles, we are proud to announce we have accomplished our goal of raising $3,500 for The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Center.
In efforts to bring awareness to the cause, I successfully completed both the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. and the New York City ING Marathon (one week apart). I am extremely thankful for living only two blocks from the finish line in NYC but, more importantly, am thankful for the overwhelming support from our friends, the donors, and the spectators at both these races.
Donovan’s Cellars Running - Triathlon Club, NYC, is looking forward to the 2012 season, as well as working along side our favorite local charities. We will kick things off in Central Park in January for the Half-Marathon. See you at the finish line!
From my house to yours,
